The Book

Urban Lux Magazine October 2011

Manny Wooten, a street hustler by force, has come to grips with the suicide of his father and in order to keep his family out of poverty, he does whatever he has to in order to provide for his mother and young sister.

On the streets Manny meets his best friend Dave Walker. The pair becomes young, notorious local drug dealers. There are murders and run-ins with the law. Dave becomes overzealous and starts making outside deals with people he is not too familiar with.

The FBI is now on their trail and they are headed for destruction. Manny is oblivious to the fact that his freedom is in danger because of Dave’s mistakes. He has fallen in love with his new bride and has considered leaving the game for good.

Tragedy strikes and problems evolve in his relationship. Trust is broken and what once seemed to be the perfect family has fallen apart and now a decision must be made. Does he stay and fight for love? Or go back to the streets and fight for respect?
